Join us for a special virtual happy hour as we welcome our guest, Olympian Lieutenant Nikole P. Barnes from the U.S. Women's Sailing Team.

Prepare your favorite drink of choice, make yourself a snack, and grab your laptop or cell phone to dial-in to this video chat! 

Come chat with Nikole ‘Nikki’ Barnes and hear her story that led to joining the U.S. Sailing Team, what it was like in Tokyo during the 2020 Olympics, and what's next on the horizon for her sailing adventures.

About our guest

Nikki Barnes is a 2017 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard. She was the Quantum Women’s Sailor of the Year in 2016 and received All-American honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Nikki has competed at the highest level of sailing for many years, with prominent and podium placings at events such as the Optimist and International 420 World, Continental and Country Championships. Notably, she earned a Bronze Medal in the then-named ISAF Youth World Championships in the 420, in Zadar, Croatia. Nikki was born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands where she learned to sail and continues to be a member of the St. Thomas Yacht Club and the St. Francis Yacht Club.

On March 12, 2021, at the 470 World Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal, Nikki qualified as the U.S. Sailing Team and Team USA’s Women’s 470 Team for the 2020 (2021) Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

This event is for Walnut Club members and guests who are interested in learning more about our organization. There is no charge to attend as members. Non-member tickets are $15.00. All tickets are non-refundable.
