Where Ambitious Women Come for Support, Inspiration, and Growth
Explore Eastern State Penitentiary's historic cellblocks as the sun goes down. Walnut Club members are invited to experience a Summer Twilight evening at one of Philadelphia's most famous architectural sites, located at 22nd Street and Fairmount Ave., just blocks from the Art Museum. Come learn about the history of the penitentiary and its relevance today. Attendees will have access to: - History exhibits, like Al Capone's Cell and Death Row - "The Voices of Eastern State" Audio Tour, narrated by actor Steve Buscemi - Award-winning exhibits about prisons today and the root causes of mass incarceration - Site-specific artist installations, including a new, digital installation titled, "Memes of Consciousness: Where Beauty Intervenes," which is projected onto the penitentiary's façade. And more! Our tour group begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. Please plan to arrive by 6:15 p.m. After the tour, you can grab a drink and relax in The Fair Chance Beer Garden. Eastern State is partnering with Triple Bottom Brewing Company to offer a selection of Triple Bottom beer for purchase, including the all-new Purpose Pale Ale brewed in collaboration between Eastern State and Triple Bottom. (Any beverage or food purchases are the responsibility of each guest.)
